Service Description

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Paratransit Service is available for people who are unable or have extreme difficulty using regular route transit service because of a disability or health condition. ADA Paratransit Service provides "first-door-through-first-door" transportation in 89 communities throughout the metropolitan area for persons who are ADA-certified. The region's ADA paratransit service is provided by::

- Metro Mobility -- serving Minneapolis, St. Paul and many surrounding suburbs
- Anoka County Traveler -- serving Anoka County
- DARTS -- serving Dakota County
- Scott County -- serving Scott County
- H.S.I. -- serving Washington County

Trips can be scheduled for any purpose. Whether a rider is traveling to a doctor's appointment, going shopping or meeting friends for dinner, all trips are treated equally. ADA Paratransit Service is a shared-ride public transportation system, so routes and schedules are designed to transport multiple passengers at one time to multiple destinations.

Fares
Riders must have their fares ready when boarding the bus or the driver may refuse to provide a ride. The driver will collect the correct fare, which can be paid with cash, commuter tickets or free-ride coupons. Drivers do not make change, so it is important to have the correct fare. The fare is determined by the scheduled pickup time. Both the scheduled and actual pickup times must fall within peak hours for the peak fare to apply. In all other cases, the off-peak fare will be charged.

The Metro Mobility off-peak fare is $2.50 per one-way trip and is in effect Monday through Friday:
- after 9:00 am and before 3:00 pm
- after 6:30 pm and before 6:00 am
- all day Saturday, Sunday, and the following holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day

The peak-hour fare is $3.50 per one way trip and is in effect Monday-Friday (except holidays) from 6-9 am and 3-6:30 pm.

Applying for Service
A completed ADA Paratransit Application Form is needed to determine eligibility for service. Download an application form (pdf format), or call Customer Services at 651-602-1111 (TTY 651-221-9886) to have a form sent to you.

Complete the form with as much detail as possible. Eligibility can be delayed if the application doesn't provide enough information to make a determination. The certification process takes up to 21 days once all required information is received. Certified riders are issued an ADA identification number, which is required to schedule a ride.

Metro Mobility Service Guide
The Metro Mobility Service Guide provides all the information needed to successfully use ADA Paratransit Service. The guide includes details on fares, hours of service, how to schedule and cancel a ride, driver assistance, standing orders, paratransit policies, and much more.
