Project of Lawyer Referral and Information Service is designed to help working individuals whose income is too high for free legal services, but who cannot afford regular rates. Program seeks to match these individuals with attorneys who are willing to provide services at a greatly reduced rate.
The project cannot guarantee a lawyer to everyone who applies. Clients must be working or receiving Social Security Disability; have income between 125 and 250 percent of Federal Poverty Guidelines; and have a family law matter in Hennepin, Ramsey, Dakota or Anoka County. Screening is done by phone. If client is eligible, staff try to arrange initial consultation with attorney on the program.
