This 150-bed facility provides the Active Treatment stage of the program
This program's main orientation is cognitive-behavioral with treatment provided through the use of group therapy and psycho-educational modules. The guiding principle of treatment is relapse prevention. Treatment services are provided in a secure and comfortable environment, using a non-judgmental, non-punitive therapeutic community.
The program believes in the importance of skill mastery, and offers time limited psycho-educational modules and treatment groups. Discrete, time-limited modules with definite agendas, specific goals and measurable outcomes are designed into the program. The goal is to reduce patient apathy and sense of hopelessness. Additionally, time limited participation by the patients combats institutionalization and assures new mixes of patients and professional staff.
The program consists of three stages: the evaluation state, the active treatment stage, and the transition stage. There are four phases to the Active Treatment Stage, which is handled through this facility in Moose Lake.
Serves individuals in all counties in Minnesota who have been committed as sexual psychopathic personalities/sexually dangerous persons.
