Service Description

This program is a Non-Residential (outpatient) program for people who have problems with the use of alcohol or other drugs. Support and services help people to learn skills and make changes to reduce or stop use.

Non-residential treatment can be more or less time or intensity based on need. Services can be from 2- 30 hours per week. The goals of both residential and non-residential treatment are the same -- the differences are in location and intensity.

In Non-Residential Treatment, services do not include housing, but may be able to help to find housing. Some non-residential programs provide housing under another license (at another location) while individuals are in non-residential treatment.

Chemical dependency means that someone's body has changed from drug or alcohol use, causing problems when they try to stop using drugs. Chemical dependency is also called alcohol or drug addiction, or substance abuse.

Non-residential treatment includes:
* An assessment (evaluation) of the person's needs, focusing on drug and alcohol use, life challenges, coping strategies, and resources
* Making and following a plan to meet these needs. This can be a plan to provide different kinds of support services. It can also have plans to get other kinds of help.

This program is licensed for Chemical Dependency Treatment by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) under the law called Rule 31. It is approved by DHS as a Non-Residential Treatment facility.
