Description
Any item, piece of equipment, or product system that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities.
It can be acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or customized.
More information can be found in the CBSM Manual.
Effective assessments consider factors such as the person's abilities, limitations, preferences, and goals, alongside environmental and task-related factors by:
• Identifying the individual's needs and abilities
• Exploring potential assistive technology solutions
• Matching the solutions to the person's tasks and goals
• Trialing and refining the selected assistive technology options
About This Location
Services may include:
* Assessments to match a person's needs, abilities, and tasks with the right combination of no-tech, low-tech, and high-tech tools, including software
* Equipment rental during a trial period, customization, training and technical assistance
* Maintenance, repair of devices and rental of equipment during repairs
* Device selection help from available options
* Ongoing training and evaluation about the device for the person and their caregivers
