Vehicle modifications are changes to a person's primary vehicle. These modifications can make a person's vehicle safer to use and help people function with greater independence.
Vehicle modifications can include:
* Adapted seat devices
* Door handle replacements
* Door widening
* Handrails and grab bars
* Lifting devices
* Roof extensions
* Wheelchair securing devices

Programs that pay for or provide the labor and/or equipment to adapt vehicles owned by people with disabilities allowing them to operate the vehicles or ride in them as passengers. Adaptations can include ramps or wheelchair lifts; primary systems such as modified seats or steering, signaling, gear shift and braking controls; and/or secondary systems such as car door openers, car door reachers, gas cap openers, seating restraints, especially designed rear view mirrors and other accessories.
