Description

This agency manages and operates the local public affordable housing program to provide decent and safe rental housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. Public housing comes in all sizes and types, from scattered single family houses to high-rise apartments for seniors.

Hill Lake Manor provides low-income housing for seniors, handicapped and income eligible families:
* 30 units elderly apartments (handicapped and single)
* 12 family houses (two, three and four bedroom)
* Supportive housing services available


Pioneer Villa provides low-income housing for seniors, handicapped and income eligible families:
* 30 units elderly (handicapped and single)
* 13 family houses (two, three and four bedroom)
* Supportive Housing services available

Eligibility

Public housing is limited to low-income families and individuals. Your eligibility is based on: 1) annual gross income; 2) whether you qualify as elderly, a person with a disability, or as a family; and 3) U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status. If you are eligible, the Housing Authority will check your references to make sure you and your family will be good tenants.


Applicants must meet income guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Check with your local office for specific income limits.

Contact the Housing Authority where you want to live to apply for public housing. Waiting lists for public housing can often be long or closed.
