A certified professional determines if there are physical changes that can be made to a person's vehicle that will improve the access and use of the vehicle by an older person, or person with a disability.

A certified professional works with an individual and/or their caregivers to identify equipment or modifications that can be made to a vehicle to improve the accessibility of vehicle for the individual for better access to the community.

Programs that pay for or provide the labor and/or equipment to adapt vehicles owned by people with disabilities allowing them to operate the vehicles or ride in them as passengers. Adaptations can include ramps or wheelchair lifts; primary systems such as modified seats or steering, signaling, gear shift and braking controls; and/or secondary systems such as car door openers, car door reachers, gas cap openers, seating restraints, especially designed rear view mirrors and other accessories.
