Additional Information

National facility which provides evaluation, independent living skills and mobility training, short-term comprehensive vocational rehabilitation and assistance with jobs and residential placement for Americans who are deaf-blind.


Resources available for the deaf and blind include:
* Causes, demographics, career possibilities, and national registry
* Programs and services offered locally (short term training)
* Information on combined vision and hearing loss
* Youth programs
* Senior Adult Services for people age 55+
* Confident Living Program: On the Road for people over 55
* Summer training for high school students (2-week or 8-week)
* Training for professionals serving the deaf-blind population
* Advocacy and coordination of services for the deaf-blind community

Eligibility

Any citizen of the United States who is 16 years of age and older with a combined hearing and vision loss is eligible to apply to the Center for training programs.


Older adult programs serve people ages 55 and older with combined vision and hearing loss.


Fees

Many services can be covered by state funds through Vocational Rehabilitation, Deaf and Hard of Hearing or Blind state services.
