Description

Limited Income - Newly Eligible Transition (LI-NET) is a special Medicare prescription drug program for immediate short-term prescription drug coverage to people with limited income. It is designed to eliminate gaps in coverage for low-income individuals transitioning to Medicare Part D.

It also:
* Covers people new to Medicare who also get Medical Assistance (MA) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
* Provides temporary coverage while Medicare gets a person enrolled in a standard Medicare prescription drug plan for the future.

Point-of-sale prescription drug coverage ensures that individuals with Medicare's low-income subsidy, or Extra Help, who are not yet enrolled in a Part D prescription drug plan are still able to get immediate prescription drug coverage.

Retroactive coverage provides retroactive coverage for new dual eligible - those individuals who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid or Medicare and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) from the Social Security Administration (SSA).

LI-NET covers:
* All drugs covered under Medicare Part D
* There are no prior authorizations needed for drugs
* Any pharmacy that accepts Medicare drug programs (no network pharmacy restrictions)
* The person will be charged the reduced copayment, based on the level of Extra Help they get
* Prescriptions that were filled within the 30 days before enrollment
- People also on Medical Assistance (MA) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) may qualify for more months of back coverage - see yellow notice from Medicare for details
