Description

Minnesotans with certain conditions are eligible to enroll in the Medical Cannabis Registry maintained by the state. Patients on the registry can get medical cannabis (marijuana) directly from one of eight dispensaries set up around the state.

Location details


Medical cannabis will be provided as a liquid, pill or vaporized delivery method that does not require the use of dried leaves or plant form.

Eligibility

Qualifying conditions for legal Minnesota residents:
* Alzheimer's disease
* Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
* Autism spectrum disorder (must meet DSM-5)
* Cancer, if your illness or its treatment produces one or more of the following: severe or chronic pain; nausea or severe vomiting; or cachexia or severe wasting
* Chronic motor or vocal tic disorder
* Chronic pain
* Glaucoma
* HIV/AIDS
* Inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn's disease
* Intractable pain
* Obstructive sleep apnea
* Post-traumatic stress disorder
* Seizures, including those characteristic of epilepsy
* Severe and persistent muscle spasms, including those characteristic of multiple sclerosis
* Sickle cell disease
* Terminal illness, with a probable life expectancy of less than one year
* Tourette syndrome


A licensed health care practitioner must provide certification for one or more of these conditions.


Fees

Annual fee is $200 for patients to participate in the program; fees are paid online. Cannabis products have a separate fee, payable at the cannabis patient centers.


Reduced annual fee of $50 for Minnesotans receiving Social Security disability, Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs (CHAMPVA), Supplemental Security Insurance Payments, or enrolled in medical assistance or MinnesotaCare.
