Description
A Boarding Care Home is a licensed facility that provides care for aged or ill persons who need personal or custodial care only. Examples of personal or custodial care include help with bathing, dressing, or other personal care; supervision of medications that can be safely self-administered; or a program of activities and supervision required by persons who are not capable of properly caring for themselves. Unless certified for participation in the federal Medicaid program, nurses are not required. However, boarding care homes with Medicaid certification are staffed 24 hours per day by trained nursing staff, including licensed nurses and registered nurse aides.
This provider is a licensed Boarding Care Home by the Minnesota Department of Health and is subject to periodic health and safety inspections for regulatory compliance by the Department of Health. Certified board and care homes are subject to federal nursing home regulations for nursing facilities.

Eligibility
Must be an honorably discharged veteran or the spouse of a veteran (spouse must be 55 or older), a resident of Minnesota or have had his/her service credited to Minnesota and be capable of self care.
This housing facility accepts individuals with criminal histories reentering the general public population from a correctional facility.

Residential homes or facilities that offer personal care and individual attention for older adults, people with disabilities and other populations whose limitations prevent them from living alone. Adult residential care homes (which are also known as board and care homes, residential board and care homes, personal care homes or residential care facilities for the elderly) generally provide a room (which may be shared), meals and supervision; and may specialize in populations with specific needs such as people with Alzheimer's disease or those with developmental disabilities. Services vary from facility to facility but may include dietary and housekeeping services, monitoring of prescription medication, social and recreational opportunities, incontinence care and assistance with toileting, bathing, grooming, dressing, mobility and other activities of daily living. Some homes provide secured surroundings for confused elderly adults who may wander while others are unable to accept individuals who are incontinent or who have severe problems with memory loss.
