Description
Day Support Services must be person-centered and provide individual assessment and planning to help a person identify essential life skills and discover activities that enrich their life. Day support services must teach and develop important and personally enriching life skills that support a person's community relationships, involvement and inclusion in the community.
Day Support Services can be delivered through remote support. Services delivered through remote support must meet all the requirements listed on CBSM - Remote support.
About This Location
Day support services can provide training, supervision and support in essential life-skill areas, including, but not limited to:
* Communication
* Community access, mobility and safety
* Independent living
* Interest-based decision-making
* Money management and budgeting
* Personal health and wellness, including needed physical and medical care
* Positive behavior and mental health support
* Problem-solving and conflict resolution
* Personal self-care
* Self-direction and goal-setting
* Socialization (social skills development and relationship-building)
* Therapeutic intervention activities or accommodations that increase the person's adaptive-skill functioning
Day support services do not cover:
* Support to find and maintain paid employment in the community
* Support for center-based prevocational services
* Support for working at paid jobs in the community
* Transportation between the person's residence and day support services site
* Services available under section 110 of the Rehabilitation Act 1973
* Services available under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)

Eligibility
To receive day support services, a person must meet both of the following:
* Eligible for the Brain Injury (BI), Community Access for Disability Inclusion (CADI), Community Alternative Care (CAC), or Developmental Disabilities (DD) waivers
* Have day support services as an assessed need in their support plan

Programs that provide diagnostic, treatment and habilitative services for adults with developmental disabilities. The programs may be available on a full or part day basis; focus on self-care, socialization, communication, independent living, functional academics and prevocational skills to maximize independence; and include speech and language therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nutritional services, psychological services and other clinical services as needed.

Community-based programs that provide long-term personal and social development opportunities within a structured environment for individuals with developmental disabilities who are unable to function independently in social, recreational or employment settings. Services are available on an hourly or daily basis and may include daily living skills instruction, basic education, recreational and social activities, exercises to improve coordination and other forms of developmental support which help participants develop and maintain the functional skills that are required for community involvement, self-advocacy, self-care and employment, if possible.
