Description
Adaptations to your home to remove barriers for people with disabilities or age-related concerns. Modifications may include wheelchair ramps, grab bars, door widening, lowering countertops and other changes to make life easier and safer. Work can range from simple changes, like replacing doorknobs with pull handles, to major structural projects such as bathroom re-design.
Additional Information
The Home Accessibility Program ensures that people with disabilities have the home modifications they need for safe access and increased independence in their homes.
Common modifications include ramps, grab bars, roll-in showers, widened doorways and handrails.
The service provides:
* Recommendations for renovations, modifications, or devices that increase accessibility and safety in new or existing homes
* On site survey of home and/or property
* Home modification planning
* Report of findings and recommendations for improving access and safety
* Information and referral to potential funding sources, loan programs
The Temporary Ramp Program provides temporary ramps for consumers who need safe, accessible access to their home for a limited amount of time. Temporary ramps are rented on a weekly or monthly basis, for up to six months.
